Thank you very much, Beth. I'm not going to say anything nice about Jay, since he might, just might read this, but, well you know.....he's turned out pretty damn good, really.

Big shoes....let's not try and stepping in them just yet; but I appreciate the sentiment. Thank you.

well said, amen, hallelujah and all that bidness. Lucky really doesn't even begin to describe the gift that is the sweet heartbreak of parenthood.

That just made me cry a little bit. I remembered the times I watched my kids in their events while my life was in a horrible upheaval. Just a few hours a week while I watched my children in their many, many events throughout their school years was a little time I could forget about myself and focus on their successes. Enjoy it Uli! It goes by way too fast! You're an awesome dad...You're there.

1. He may not of won first in the run but he is without a doubt one of the strongest kids, not only in his class but the school (and trust me, I played tug a war with just about every one of them). I had to keep moving him from side to side so everyone would have a chance to win.
2. And knowing their mom and or dad is present (even though it may not be at their side) showing their support gives them winning hearts.
As parents we should never forget to tell our children how lucky WE are to get to be THEIR parent!!!

I almost hate to admit that I am more worried I don't feel the losses we see much more frequently (sadly, the constant routine of it) than the average member of the public. Still, I realize it might be one hell of a time bomb out on the horizon when all these scenes come rushing back some day. Yeah we can do our jobs professionally for years with seemingly little effect observed by outsiders and even family and friends, but there is a toll.
